Dear Colleague,
We have been appointed as a committee by Executive Vice Chancellor Elizabeth Simmons to conduct a review, in accordance with university policy, of James Antony’s performance in his administrative role as Dean of the Division of Graduate Education and Postdoctoral Affairs. This includes performance in the following areas:
- Creating, articulating, and implementing a vision for graduate education that is aligned with the university’s strategic plan;
- Demonstrated leadership in fostering academic excellence, in developing graduate education, and in cultivating a student-centered culture. This includes promoting curriculum innovation and reform and strengthening academic support services for graduate students.
- Service as the graduate liaison with the Academic Senate’s Education Policy Committee, Graduate Council, and other committees to promote academic excellence by assessing existing academic programs and services and initiating new ones and advising on implications of academic
policy changes.
- Leadership and service on Senate/Administration workgroups driving improvement of graduate education and the graduate experience.
- Collaborative leadership in supporting non-academic aspects of the graduate experience.
- Fostering a culture of inclusion within the division; enhancing the diversity of the division and campus, specifically academic, staff, and student diversity;
- Alumni engagement;
- Stewardship of personnel, space and financial resources;
- Organizational efficiency and change management;
- Promotion of morale, community, and sense of collective purpose;
- Contributions to the larger campus community and effectiveness as a campus leader.
