The UC San Diego LGBT Resource Center is excited to announce our 2024 Out and Proud series, taking place April 12-26, 2024, during Weeks 3 and 4 of Spring Quarter. This two-week series will feature programming that focuses on the theme "Out of the Closet into the Future," bringing awareness to LGBTQIA+ issues, providing an opportunity for visibility and reflections, and celebrating the many different intersecting identities that make up our community.
The Out and Proud Series is the largest opportunity for community visibility on the UC San Diego campus, and it is a time for reflection on the achievements of LGBTQIA+ identified students, staff, faculty, and our allies. It is also a time for public awareness and discussion of current LGBTQIA+ issues on the state and national levels.
This year’s series keynote is Johanna Toruño, Salvadoran-born artist and Founder of the Unapologetic Street Series. She will be leading an art workshop on Wednesday, April 17. Join us in celebrating the LGBTQIA+ community and being part of Out and Proud. Together, we can create a more inclusive and supportive environment for all.
We celebrate Pride during the month of April because of our quarter system. We also encourage participation and celebration during the nationally recognized Pride Month in June, as well as San Diego's Pride celebration in July. If you’d like to register for the UC San Diego contingent for San Diego Pride you can visit the LGBT Resource Center website.
