I am pleased to inform you of a 4.2% general salary increase for policy-covered (non-represented) staff employees and academic appointees at UC San Diego, including the health system, as identified in the Office of the President’s (UCOP) 2024-2025 Salary Program.
Please Note: This salary program is contingent upon the outcome of the state budget and is subject to change. In the event the current systemwide budget expectations are altered, President Drake will provide an updated announcement at that time.
The salary increase will be effective July 1, 2024, for monthly employees, and June 23, 2024, for bi-weekly paid staff employees. The increase will appear on the July 17, 2024, paycheck for staff employees paid bi-weekly, and on the August 1, 2024, paycheck for staff employees paid monthly. The adjustment to the academic salary scales will be effective October 1, 2024, for policy-covered faculty and students, and July 1, 2024, for other policy-covered academic appointees.
Staff increases will be implemented centrally by the Campus Human Resources Office in July 2024. Eligible staff will be those hired on or before January 3, 2024, into a career or contract position with an appointment at 50% or more. An employee's most recent performance rating must be satisfactory/solid/effective performance or better. Fiscal contacts for staff will receive additional eligibility and distribution details in the coming weeks. Implementation details for academic appointees from Executive Vice Chancellor Elizabeth Simmons are forthcoming.
Health care employees covered by Senate Bill 525 (Health Care Minimum Wage)
Health care employees who earn less than the new minimum wage as detailed in Senate Bill 525 will receive a portion or all of their annual salary increase one month earlier on May 26 (biweekly paid), or June 1 (monthly paid), with the intent to bring them up to the new minimum wage. If less than 4.2% is needed to bring the employee up to the new minimum wage, the employee will receive the balance of the percentage on the dates described as part of the regular salary program.
