We are pleased to announce Josh Kavanagh as Operations Management & Capital Programs’ Assistant Vice Chancellor for Transportation and Activation, effective May 1, 2024.
In this important role, Josh will work closely with faculty, administrators and colleagues across the University and Health System to advance the vision and values of UC San Diego as a destination public university that is student-centered, research-driven, patient-dedicated and service-oriented. As Assistant Vice Chancellor, he will be a strategic advisor and collaborator on multiple campuswide initiatives associated with the UC San Diego Strategic Plan update, with specific focus on the rapidly evolving mobility needs of both our La Jolla campus and our expanding regional footprint. Sustainable transportation programs that support both internal circulation and public access in support of the Campus Activation initiative will be key priorities.
Josh joined UC San Diego in November of 2017 as the Director of Transportation and since fall of 2020 has served as Executive Director for Triton Auxiliary Programs and Services. He has over two decades of senior leadership experience in transportation policy, program development, and operations spanning higher education, healthcare, corporate, and governmental settings.
Josh’s collaborative approach, aptitude for creative and integrative problem-solving, and extensive experience with developing and aligning strategy and operations make him exceptionally well suited to serve in this key leadership position for the campus. Please join us in congratulating Josh Kavanagh on this new role.
