Academic Senate Message on In-Person Instruction

Dear Colleagues,
Following the statement that UC San Diego will resume normal operations tomorrow, we would like to provide additional guidance on what this means for course instruction. Courses may return to in-person instruction as of Tuesday, May 7.
The Policy on Distance Education Courses provides flexibility for instructors to incorporate online modalities into in-person courses. Instructors have the autonomy to make decisions about course modality and may opt to teach in-person or remotely based on circumstances and what best serves their students. Regardless of your choice for course modality at this time, please provide a clear statement to your students and take into account the stress that they may be experiencing.
Sincerely,
John A. Hildebrand
