We are pleased to announce that Thad Kousser, professor in the Department of Political Science, has been appointed Interim Associate Dean in the Division of Graduate Education and Postdoctoral Affairs, effective July 1, 2024. Kousser will serve in this role until the appointment of a new GEPA dean, or June 30, 2025.
In this role, Kousser will provide leadership and direction in advancing graduate programs that prepare students to lead in a multidisciplinary and increasingly complex world. He will have primary responsibility in overseeing the graduate program review process, assisting faculty with the development of new graduate proposals, and advising students and graduate programs on the development of strong extramural fellowship applications and strategies for increasing extramural support.
Professor Kousser has demonstrated he is well prepared to take on these duties in previous leadership roles at UC San Diego, including service as the co-chair for the Senate-Administration Workgroup on the Future of Graduate Education, former department chair for Political Science and as co-director of the Yankelovich Center for Social Science Research.
Please join us in congratulating Interim Associate Dean Kousser for his new role and thank him for his continued service to students and UC San Diego.
