Updates to UC San Diego Library Hours and Services

As you may know, the state’s budget situation has caused some financial constraints for the University of California. As a result, UC San Diego Library must adjust its services and collections investments to preserve those that are most useful to the campus community.

The following changes will be introduced beginning September 23, 2024:

Modified hours at Geisel Library:
- Sunday through Thursday, the building will close to all users at 10 p.m.
- Friday and Saturday, the building will close at 6 p.m.
Some public computers on floors 1 and 2 in Geisel Library will transition to monitor-only stations to best meet current student needs.
The media reserves service has been curtailed. If you need streaming media that is not currently in the Library’s collections, please complete the collection request form.
Additional services may experience delays as we reallocate resources; thank you for your patience.

While we make these adjustments, we are committed to supporting your academic success and serving you as efficiently as possible while maintaining the high-quality resources you expect from the Library.
