Updated Ethics and Compliance Briefing: Required Training

The University of California is launching an updated ethics briefing for employees as part of its continued commitment to integrity, compliance, and accountability across the UC system.

The UC Ethics and Compliance Briefing (ECB) is a mandatory course that reinforces UC’s Ethical Values and Standards of Ethical Conduct and covers key compliance topics including privacy, export controls, accessibility, conflicts of interest, and the Whistleblower and Whistleblower Protection policies. The course provides information on how to recognize situations that require employees to seek guidance, as well as how to identify and report potential instances of non-compliance. This training is required for all employees, except researchers who receive salary support from extramural funding (these individuals are instead assigned the Ethics and Compliance Briefing for Researchers).

Employees are required to complete the updated UC Ethics and Compliance Briefing course through UC Learning Center within 60 days of receiving the assignment. It should take approximately 30 minutes to complete. Additionally, the course has four optional mini modules (5 minutes each) that employees may take to learn more about UC governance structure, accessibility, the Disqualification Rule, and supervisor responsibilities under the Whistleblower and Whistleblower Protection policies.

If you are unable to complete the training in one session, you can save your place and complete it at a later time. The training is available in English, Spanish, and Tagalog, and is accessible to screen readers.

You will receive a notification from the UC Learning Center when the course is assigned to you the week of October 13th-17th. You will also be able to complete the training by logging into the UC Learning Center (uclearning.ucsd.edu) and searching the keyword: UCECB.

The Ethics and Compliance Briefing Resources Page contains all the links, contacts, and policies identified in the Ethics and Compliance Briefing. UC Employees can access these resources at any time.
