ALL ACADEMICS AT UC SAN DIEGO

AARP and PSSRP Review Panel Dissolution

Effective academic year (2025-26), UC San Diego will retire the Academic Coordinator & Academic Administrator Review Panel (AARP) and the Project Scientists Specialist Review Panel (PSSRP). This change is part of a broader effort to streamline academic appointment workflows and reduce redundant review steps to the benefit of our academic appointees and academic personnel.

With this update, academic appointment and review actions in the Academic Coordinator, Academic Administrator, Project Scientists, and Specialist academic series will no longer require panel review prior to submission to the corresponding final authority.

Authority for actions in the above stated academic series remains delegated to School Deans (or equivalent). The Senior AVC-AA retains authority for actions where an academic appointee reports directly to a dean (or equivalent) or where the appointee is a near relative as defined in Academic Personnel Manual (APM) Section 520, Employment of Near Relatives. An updated authority and review chart can be found here.

Academic Personnel Services has distributed additional information and guidance to schools and departments. Questions may be directed to Gabe Lopez, Sr. Director of Academic Advancement, at gal037@ucsd.edu or your school’s assigned Academic Personnel Analyst.
