National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week was first held at Villanova University in 1975. Now, the National Coalition for the Homeless and the National Student Campaign Against Hunger and Homelessness sponsor more than 700 colleges, high schools and community groups across the country during the week prior to Thanksgiving to raise awareness about the pressing issues of hunger and homelessness.
We appreciate the UC San Diego students, faculty, staff, alumni and community members who provide nutritional and financial support to the Triton Food Pantry and Basic Needs throughout the year, and especially those who donated during recent financial uncertainties. However, even in more stable financial situations, thousands of Tritons still have gaps in basic needs that you can help fill by donating non-perishable food and hygiene items to the Triton Food Pantry or bymaking an online donation to UC San Diego’s Basic Needs Initiative.
Thank you for participating in these events and demonstrating how UC San Diego is a caring community.
Sincerely,
