Timely Warning – Aggravated Assault

On 11-07-2025 at 7:26 pm, the UC San Diego Police Department received a report of an aggravated assault that occurred on 11-06-2025 at approximately 7:30 pm at Warren Field. The victim and reporting party stated that during a non-UCSD-sanctioned soccer game, he was punched in the face, causing significant injury and hospitalization.

  • The victim described the suspect as a male, 5-foot-6-inches tall, with an average build and a full mustache and beard.  The male was last seen wearing a brown shirt, black shorts, and soccer cleats. It is unknown if the male is affiliated with UCSD.
  • At this time, the suspect is not in custody.
  • The report is currently under investigation by the UC San Diego Police Department.

If you are the victim of an aggravated assault:

  • Seek medical attention as needed.
  • Report it to the UC San Diego Police Department immediately by calling or texting 9-1-1.

To help reduce the risk of being the victim of an aggravated assault:

  • Be cognizant of your personal space to allow yourself time to react.
  • Disengage when possible and get to a place of safety.
  • Be aware of signs and triggers of an escalating conflict, such as:
    • Clenching of fists or jaw;
    • Sudden change in body language or tone; or
    • Pacing or fidgeting.
  • De-escalate the conflict, if possible.
    • Remain calm and in control;
    • Listen to the other person and respond empathetically.
    • Use a calming tone of voice.
    • Use the person’s name;
    • Avoid using the phrase “Calm down.”
    • Respect personal space; and
    • Maintain an open stance.
  • Report suspicious activity immediately to the UC San Diego Police Department by calling or texting 9-1-1.
  • Use the UC San Diego Safety Escort Program. Call (858) 534-WALK, available daily from dusk to dawn.
  • Whenever possible, travel on well-lit, busy routes. Avoid walking or parking in shadowed areas. Have your keys in your hand as you approach your door.
  • Know the location of Campus Emergency Telephones on routes to and from campus destinations.
