Beginning in January, the campus will be welcoming a small number of transfer students who were admitted to start in the Winter 2026 term. Approximately 80 new transfer students were admitted to this Winter Start Pilot. Students were admitted to majors that were intentionally selected based on course patterns and required sequences, and with department agreement.
This pilot aligns with ongoing discussions between Enrollment Management and the Executive Vice Chancellor in response to campus leadership’s goals for better utilizing our enrollment capacity throughout the year. Insights from this initial pilot cohort will help inform what steps we take during future terms.
Additionally, about 40 students - both first-year and transfer- have deferred their admission from Fall to Winter for a variety of reasons, representing a range of majors and colleges.
Campus partners have been collaborating to design a new student onboarding experience for this cohort of students, who will enroll in November alongside continuing students. They will also participate in orientation through their College.
