We are pleased to announce the reappointment of Kate Antonovics, a faculty member in the Department of Economics, as Provost of Seventh College following a positive administrative review and the review committee’s recommendation of reappointment.
The review committee commended Provost Antonovics’ energetic leadership and creative problem solving. As the first Provost of Seventh College, Provost Antonovics took the lead in building Seventh College’s leadership team, who worked tirelessly to launch the College and to welcome and support the first cohorts of Seventh College students amidst the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.
In addition, building on the College’s theme, “A Changing Planet,” Provost Antonovics and her team developed an innovative writing-focused academic program (the Synthesis Program) that incorporates project-based learning, allowing students to harness what they have learned in their major field of study by working in interdisciplinary teams on projects aimed at addressing the challenges posed by our changing planet. The review committee also heard testimonies that Provost Antonovics is “a champion for the students” and has created “an inclusive and supportive environment for all members of Seventh.”
