All faculty, staff and students are invited to participate in UC San Diego's Arab American Heritage Celebration on Thursday, April 17, 2025, from 5 to 7 p.m. in Price Center Ballroom East. This meaningful celebration will feature a dynamic lineup of speakers and performers, including Arab-American comedian Nasser Al-Rayess, an authentic Arabic meal catered by our very own Tahini, DJ music by Ola Almasri, cultural dances and more.
This year’s theme —“Honoring the Past, Inspiring the Future” — provides an opportunity to uplift the richness and diversity of Arab American heritage through education and celebration. We look forward to creating spaces throughout April for our Arab American community members to proudly share their identities, language, culture and heritage and for our community to learn more about the contributions of Arab Americans to the United States.
To save your seat for the April 17, Arab American Heritage Month Celebration, please register for the event. This is a free event, open to all UC San Diego staff, faculty, and students, and registration is required for entry. For more information about the Arab American Faculty and Staff Association, please visit this page.
In recognition of Arab American Heritage Month, two hours of administrative leave with pay have been approved for employees to attend an Arab American Heritage Month activity. Supervisors, upon request, may approve the use of such leave when the absence does not infringe upon the performance of required job duties or patient care.
Thank you to the members of the Arab American Staff and Faculty Association and the Arab American Heritage Month Planning Committee for your work in coordinating these educational and celebratory campus activities.
