New Online Teaching Academy

The Teaching and Learning Commons (The Commons), in partnership with the Division of Extended Studies (DES), is excited to announce the launch of the inaugural Online Teaching Academy (OTA). Led by The Commons’ digital learning team, the OTA is actively recruiting instructors interested in designing and delivering high-quality online courses that cultivate deep learning and engagement within the digital classroom.

This immersive program will be conducted online over six weeks, requiring approximately 3-5 hours of engagement each week. Participants will review asynchronous learning materials, attend workshops and presentations by online teaching and learning experts, and work alongside them to design key components of an online course.

At the end of the academy, participants will have mapped out their course for online delivery, developed a robust student communication plan, and gained valuable skills to fully develop their online course.

The Online Teaching Academy will launch this Summer, from July 7 to August 15, 2025. If you are interested and would like more information, please reach out via email at online@ucsd.edu.
