I ask that you please review the meeting materials in advance of the meeting and send questions to academicsenateoffice@ucsd.edu with the agenda topic number in the email subject line by noon on Friday, April 11. Your questions will be shared with the presenters so that they may be prepared to discuss them in advance.
About the Special Representative Assembly Meeting (5:15 to 6:30 p.m.)
The Academic Senate received a request on April 1 from our Senate faculty colleagues to hold a special Representative Assembly meeting to consider an Academic Senate response and actions to: 1. Help Safeguard Our Students and Faculty; and 2. Stand Up for Free Speech and Academic Freedom.
Per San Diego Divisional Bylaw 82, a special meeting must be scheduled within two weeks of receipt of the request. Scheduling the special meeting after the regular Assembly allows for timely consideration of our colleagues’ request.
Attendance for Representative Assembly Members and Alternates
Primary Representatives and Alternate Representatives should coordinate their attendance and voting for the regular and special meetings. Both may attend; however, Alternate Representatives may only vote in the absence of the Primary Representative. Please coordinate who will attend each meeting and cast votes in advance. Your participation matters.
If you have questions about the April 15 meetings, please email academicsenateoffice@ucsd.edu. I look forward to seeing you on April 15.
Sincerely,
