Introducing UC San Diego’s New Centralized Events Calendar

We are pleased to announce the launch of UC San Diego’s new centralized Events Calendar, available at calendar.ucsd.edu. The new platform officially replaces the previous calendar system effective June 30, 2025.

The new calendar provides a user-friendly, centralized destination for students, faculty, staff, alumni and members of the regional community to discover the many events taking place on and around campus daily - from research talks and performances, to workshops, athletic events, student-led programs and more.

Supporting the Campus Activation Initiative

The Events Calendar is the first in a series of new tools developed under the Campus Activation initiative, launched in 2023 to support cross-campus collaboration, enable infrastructure, align processes and create more welcoming and accessible experiences. This initiative aims to enhance the student experience, increase visibility for campus engagement opportunities and position UC San Diego as a regional and global destination for learning, research and connection.

Key Benefits and Features

The new Events Calendar platform was selected through a competitive bid process and developed over six months through a collaborative effort involving Information Technology Services, University Communications, Student Affairs and Campus Life, and Special Events and Protocol.

Notable features include:

Advanced filters, tags and keywords for more discoverable events
Built-in event registration
QR code guest check-in and attendance tracking
Private, restricted or unlisted events
Custom event feed widget integrations for department websites
Collaborative group management tools
SSO login for UC San Diego users — no new password needed
Public accounts for campus affiliates and alumni to save favorites and get personalized digests
Place pages featuring photos, maps and events tied to campus venues and landmarks
Dedicated student event landing page (studentevents.ucsd.edu), which features events posted by registered student organizations and other student-focused events

Getting Started

A dedicated Calendar Help website has been developed to guide users through the onboarding process, including training materials, event submission instructions and frequently asked questions. In addition, a temporary Microsoft Teams support channel is available to campus staff to assist with questions during the rollout. We invite all departments and organizations to begin using the new calendar platform and explore its capabilities.
