Timely Warning – Burglary

On 7/15/2025 at 9:30 AM and 2:10 PM, the UC San Diego Police Department received online reports of the thefts of two bicycles from the bike cage located directly behind the laundry room at 9264 Regents Road, located in the Central Mesa Apartments on the UC San Diego campus. The victims reported that these thefts most likely occurred sometime between 7/14/2025, around 7:00 PM and 7/15/2025, around 1:55 PM. The reporting parties stated that they secured their bikes in the bike cage. Upon further investigation, it was determined that the unknown suspect(s)entered the bike cage, cut the locks, removed the bikes from the bike cage, and fled in an unknown direction.

There is no suspect information at this time.
At this time, the suspect is not in custody.
The report is currently under investigation by the UC San Diego Police Department.

If you witness suspicious activity or the theft of a micro-mobility device in progress:

Contact the UC San Diego Police Department immediately by calling 9-1-1 and be prepared to provide the following:

Location
Suspect description, including clothing
Suspect direction of travel
Anything the suspect is carrying (tools, weapons)
Description of e-mobility device

If you are the victim of a micro-mobility device theft or burglary:

Contact the UC San Diego Police Department by calling (858) 534-4357 and be prepared to provide the following:
Vehicle year, make, model and color;
Date, time, location you last saw your micro-mobility device (vehicle);
Date and time you discovered your micro-mobility device (vehicle) missing; and
Advise if you subscribe to a micro-mobility device (vehicle) tracking service, such as AirTag or similar device.

General safety considerations to prevent a micro-mobility device (motor vehicle) theft:

Always lock your e-mobility device (vehicle).
Park in busy, well-lit areas. Pick a parking spot where there is a lot of activity. Thieves prefer stealing e-mobility devices from isolated areas.
HDH offers Bike Lockers at multiple locations across Campus.
Transportation offers bicycle cages at multiple locations across the campus as well. However, locks and chains are not infallible.

Install a vehicle tracking and location system that can be activated after the e-mobility device is reported as stolen.
Take a photo of the device with serial number or other owner applied identifiers to share if the vehicle is taken.
