We are pleased to announce the reappointment of Carol Padden as dean of the School of Social Sciences, following a positive administrative review of her performance and recommendation of reappointment by the review committee. Padden will also hold the Sanford I. Berman Chair in Language and Human Communication.
Since her appointment in 2014, Dean Padden has provided steadfast and thoughtful leadership for the School of Social Sciences, spanning 16 academic departments and programs. Under her leadership, the School of Social Sciences has expanded academic programs and faculty and student support, greatly increased majors and enrollment, and has secured critical external funding. Dean Padden has also bolstered the school’s mission while achieving operational and academic excellence.
The committee lauded her wide-reaching faculty collaboration and support, particularly for such a large and complex school. The committee heard strong and consistent praise from stakeholders for the dean’s integrity, thoughtfulness and deep knowledge of the school and its many departments.
