UC San Diego Celebrates Latinx Heritage Month |
Hispanic Heritage Month is celebrated nationally from September 15 to October 15 to honor the heritage, history and cultural diversity of Latinx individuals. This period was chosen to coincide with the independence of several Latin American countries, including Costa Rica, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico and Chile. Each year, the National Council of Hispanic Employment Program Managers leads the process of selecting the annual theme, which is adopted by institutions nationwide.
The UC San Diego 5th Annual Latinx Heritage Month Celebration is Thursday, October 16, 2025. This year’s national theme, as selected by The National Council of Hispanic Employment Program Managers, is Collective Heritage: Honoring the Past, Inspiring the Future. It celebrates the diversity, strength, and unity within the Latinx community.
