Transportation Services is here to support your commute and make getting to, from and around campus easier, more affordable and more sustainable. We want to share a few important reminders and updates as you begin fall quarter.
Parking Updates
Please remember that undergraduate parking permits are only available to junior and senior commuter students. Learn more.
We’ve consolidated commuter student parking to reduce space search time. On the west side of campus, commuter student parking is located in the Pangea Parking Structure; on the east side, it’s available in Lot P701. If you're looking to cut costs, lower-priced Discount and Super Saver permits are available. Learn more about permit types and eligibility on our permits page.
If you drive an electric vehicle or are considering making the switch before federal incentives expire September 30, visit our EV Resource Center for information about how to maximize your savings now and when charging on campus.
Carsharing Update
We recognize that a car is sometimes necessary so we offer carsharing that allows eligible participants to rent a vehicle on an hourly or daily basis. The Enterprise Carshare fleet at UC San Diego is growing with more vehicles and new locations. Learn more.
Transit Update
Every student has access to unlimited transit rides with U-Pass, which is included in student fees. This benefit allows you to ride MTS buses and trolleys as well as NCTD’s BREEZE, SPRINTER and COASTER systems for an easy and cost-effective way to travel without worrying about parking. Learn more about what your U-Pass covers and how to access those services.
Triton Transit is your on-campus transit provider, whether you’re moving within the campus or transferring from a regional transit provider. All rides are fare-free and weekday, on-demand, late night service is available after full-sized buses are no longer running. The fall service schedule begins Sunday, September 21. Learn more.
Micromobility Update
If you ride a personal bike or scooter to or around campus, please note that while a parking permit is not required, registration is free and required. Protect your investment by registering your ride today. Claim vouchers for high-quality helmets and U-locks at up to 85% off and purchase a $10 Tile Tracker to assist with device recovery in the event of theft at the “Get Permits” link in the Parking Portal.
Through October, students who complete our new, short online safety training will be entered in our weekly gift card drawing. Transportation Services and UC San Diego also partner with Spin to provide shared e-scooters and e-bikes. Deeply discounted rates are available for CalFresh and Pell-eligible students through Spin Access and Spin vehicles eliminate theft risk and ownership costs. Learn more.
