Following a comprehensive nationwide search, I am thrilled to announce that Selina Martin will be joining UC San Diego as our new Assistant Vice Chancellor/University Controller, effective September 11, 2025. Selina will be a member of the Vice Chancellor & Chief Financial Officer’s senior management team.
Selina brings over 31 years of exceptional experience in accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, and analysis, with a proven track record of success across multiple university systems and the private sector. Most recently, she served as UCLA’s Controller since 2020, where she played a pivotal role in advancing transformative financial initiatives. Prior to joining the UC system, Selina was Controller at the University of Iowa where she implemented robust financial reporting tools and internal controls that strengthened financial accountability and transparency. Her expertise in governmental accounting standards (GAAP, GASB), compliance, and strategic financial leadership is an exceptional fit for her new role. Selina earned her B.S. in Accounting from the University of Wisconsin, her MBA from the University of Minnesota and is a CMA (Certified Management Accountant).
As we continue to advance UC San Diego’s financial operations, Selina’s extensive experience within the UC system, her proven leadership in financial transformation, and her strategic approach to financial stewardship will be invaluable. I am confident that her leadership will position our university for long-term success and innovation.
Please join me in giving Selina a warm welcome to UC San Diego and Business & Financial Services upon her arrival. I encourage you to take the opportunity to connect with her in the coming weeks as she transitions into this critical role. Together, we will continue to build on our shared commitment to excellence and innovation in financial services.
