New Interim Policies from UCOP

Dear UC San Diego Community,

The University of California Office of the President published new interim policies, effective January 1, 2026.

  • Policies Applying to Campus Activities, Organizations, and Students (PACAOS) 100.00: Policy on Student Conduct and Discipline
  • PACAOS-Appendix-H: Student Conduct Investigation and Resolution Framework
  • Policy and Procedure Manual 160-10 Student Conduct Procedures

Summary of changes:

  • The current PACAOS 100.00 will be divided into PACAOS 100.00 and Appendix H. PACAOS 100.00 will retain the Standards of Conduct and Appendix H will now set forth the procedures for investigating and resolving student conduct.
  • More formal timelines have been defined for assessment, investigation, and resolution.
  • A more robust alternative resolution process has been defined, including the conditions for implementation of an alternative resolution.
  • Only students facing suspension or dismissal who contest the findings of policy may proceed to a formal hearing, known as a Student Conduct Review.
  • Student Conduct Officers will determine responsibility for policy violations, rather than students accepting responsibility as a part of the Administrative Resolution process.
  • These policy updates will be based on the date when a student receives notification of a violation, not the date of the incident itself. Notifications received on or after January 1, 2026 will be subject to the new policy update even if the incident occurred in 2025.
