Timely Warning – Micromobility Device Theft (Motor Vehicle)

On February 15, 2026, at approximately 2:20 PM, an officer from the UC San Diego Police Department saw a suspect riding a bicycle while rolling an electric scooter in the area of Library Walk and Gilman Drive. The UC San Diego Police Department has actively worked to address micro-mobility theft on and around campus, and the suspect’s actions were consistent with recent criminal activity.

The suspect fled from officers but left the bicycle and electric scooter behind. Further investigation revealed the suspect removed the bicycle from the area of the Target on the UC San Diego Campus. The owner of the bicycle was contacted and confirmed the bike was stolen. Photos were obtained at that time.

  • Suspect #1 is described as a Male, 25-30 years old, 6’0”-6’2", 150lbs, wearing a black baseball cap, black sweatshirt, and dark blue jeans.
  • At this time, the suspect is not in custody.
  • The report is currently under investigation by the UC San Diego Police Department.

Since the beginning of 2026, numerous thefts of micromobility devices, including electric scooters and bicycles, have been reported to the UC San Diego Police Department from various areas across campus.  Multiple suspects are likely involved.
