Community Alert Bulletin - Security Advisory – Mexico Travel and Safety Update |
UC San Diego has been informed that the U.S. Embassy & Consulate in Mexico has issued a security alert for individuals currently in, or traveling to and from, Mexico. Please be aware that colleagues and students may be impacted by this activity.
Affected Locations

- Jalisco State (including Puerto Vallarta, Chapala, and Guadalajara)
- Baja California State (including Tijuana, Tecate, and Ensenada)
- Quintana Roo State (including Cancun, Cozumel, Playa del Carmen, and Tulum)

Portions of Guanajuato, Guerrero, Michoacán, Oaxaca, Nuevo León, and Tamaulipas

Advisory Details
All individuals in the affected regions have been advised to shelter in place until further notice due to ongoing security operations, road blockages, and criminal activity.
Guidance for UC San Diego Community Members

- Faculty and Staff: If you are currently in one of the affected regions, please coordinate with your supervisor to discuss impacts to scheduled work and to address any leave needed.

Students: Students in impacted areas should contact the International Services and Engagement Office for support at iseo@ucsd.edu. Additionally, students should contact their College Dean of Student Affairs (undergraduates) or the GEPA Assistant Dean for Student Affairs (graduate and professional students) for any assistance that is needed.
