UC San Diego Celebrates Annual Arab American Heritage Month Throughout April

All faculty, staff and students are invited to participate in UC San Diego's Arab American Heritage Celebration Banquet on Thursday, April 16, 2026, 5-7 p.m. in Price Center Ballroom West.

This meaningful celebration will feature a dynamic lineup of speakers and performers, including dancer, choreographer and author Ahmad Joudeh, DJ music by Ola Almasri, cultural dance by Zaytouna Dabke Group and an authentic Arabic meal catered by Tahini. To reserve a table or donate, please contact AAHM@ucsd.edu by April 10.

This year’s theme — “Many Voices, One Community” — highlights the diverse identities, cultures and experiences of Arab Americans from 22 nations while celebrating their shared values, unity and resilience within the United States.

We look forward to creating spaces throughout April for our Arab American community members to share their identities, language, culture and heritage proudly and for our UC San Diego community to learn more about the contributions of Arab Americans to the United States. To view the monthlong calendar of events, please visit the Arab American Heritage Month webpage.

In recognition of this annual celebration, two hours of administrative leave with pay have been approved for employees to attend a UC San Diego Arab American Heritage Month event. Supervisors, upon request, may approve the use of such leave when the absence does not infringe upon the performance of required job duties or patient care.

Thank you to the members of the Arab American Heritage Month Planning Committee and the Arab American Staff and Faculty Association for coordinating these educational and celebratory campus activities.
