Project Location/Description:
Temporary closure of the intersection at Russell Lane and Rupertus Lane from April 13, 2026 to July 31, 2026.
Triton Center will provide expanded and centralized support for students at the heart of the UC San Diego campus. Four new buildings include a new Student Health and Well-Being Building, Student Academic Resources Building, Alumni and Welcome Center and a Multi-Purpose Building with a 500-person event space and art gallery. The project also includes public realm improvements and accessible parking.
Immediate Parking Lot, Street Traffic, and Pedestrian Impacts:
To complete new drainage, repaving, sidewalk pavers, and landscape planters, the intersection of Russell Lane and Rupertus Walk will be closed to vehicular traffic. Vehicle access to UC 409, Student Services Building, Price Center, Visual Arts, and Lyman Lane will be detoured through the Physics High Bay / Structural and Materials Engineering Building driveway, with alternate access from Library Walk.
The sidewalk on the west side of Russell Lane adjacent to Prebys Music Building will be closed and pedestrians will be detoured to the east side of Russell Lane. A fire lane will be maintained on Russell Lane through the construction area for emergency vehicles only. Mobility devices are encouraged to access Price Center and the Student Services Building from Library Walk.
