Update on Senate Election – Additional Committee on Committees Position

Dear Colleagues:

The Spring Senate election will commence on Monday, April 27, 2026 for the Vice Chair (Chair Designate) of the Division, two Divisional Representatives, and five positions on the Committee on Committees for terms beginning September 1, 2026. Voting instructions for the online ballot and a link to candidate bios will be distributed on April 27. In the meantime, I encourage you to review the reference ballot to familiarize yourself with who is running. I would also like to extend our sincere gratitude to our colleagues who stepped forward to run; their commitment to the Academic Senate and shared governance is greatly appreciated.

Notice is hereby given that a second Spring election will open on June 4, 2026 to fill an additional vacancy on the Committee on Committees. The successful candidate will serve the remainder of the term for the School of Physical Sciences seat following a colleague’s departure. Therefore, I am inviting nominating petitions for the following position:

Member of the Committee on Committees from a Physical Sciences department for a one-year term, effective July 1, 2026 through August 31, 2027.

Nominating petitions are due on Friday, May 1 at 4:30 p.m. and may be submitted by e-mail to Daniel at dcarrillojr@ucsd.edu. Please note that the nominee must have been contacted and agreed to serve the term if elected, before the nomination is submitted.
