Action Recommended before July: Lived/Self-Chosen Name Display in Triton Student System (TSS)

Dear Colleagues,

As part of the transition to the Triton Student System (TSS), there is an important update to how instructor names will appear in student-facing systems.

What’s Changing

With the implementation of TSS, applications such as the TSS Schedule of Classes and Booking (replacing WebReg) will display instructor names based on how they are recorded in UCPath. This aligns name displays across university systems and ensures consistency in how instructor information is presented to students, in support of the Gender Recognition and Lived Name Policy.

  • If you have a lived/self-chosen name set in UCPath, that name will be displayed.
  • If not, your legal name in UCPath will be displayed.

What This Means for You

If you use a lived/self-chosen name and would like it to appear in student-facing systems after TSS launches, please ensure your name is recorded in UCPath.

What Action is Needed

We recommend reviewing and updating your name in UCPath ahead of the TSS launch in July 2026.

The instructions for updating your lived/self-chosen name in UCPath, please access the Public HR Knowledge Base - How to Update Personal Information in UCPath - Services & Support page.

Questions or Support

If you have questions about this change, please email: esr-student@ucsd.edu

For UCPath-specific support, please refer to your local HR or UCPath resources. To learn more about the Triton Student System (TSS), visit the TSS page.

Thank you for reviewing this update and taking action, if applicable, as we prepare for the transition to TSS.
