ALL ACADEMICS, STAFF, AND STUDENTS AT UC SAN DIEGO, INCLUDING UC SAN DIEGO HEALTH

Mental Health Awareness Month, May 2026

Supporting mental health is a systemwide priority for the University of California, and UC San Diego is proud to be at the forefront of this effort. May is Mental Health Awareness Month, which is an opportunity to remind everyone in our Triton community of UC San Diego’s comprehensive programs, counseling and support resources designed to help our students, faculty and staff flourish – in May, year-round, and particularly during times of additional stress.

Along with our many student support and success initiatives, we provide quality counseling and effective mental health resources in a holistic continuum of care. Over the past decade, we have invested in improving and bolstering our student mental health offerings. We continue to invest in building access to mental health and student success resources, with transformative projects such as the forthcoming Triton Health and Wellness Building in the Triton Center, which will open in July 2026 as a fully integrated student, faculty and staff health center, centralizing resources and providing even more access to comprehensive mental health support services.

Mental Health Awareness Month Events
As part of the Tritons Flourish Initiative, UC San Diego’s Student Health and Well-Being (Counseling and Psychological Services, Student Health Services, and Health Promotion Services), Recreation, and Student Affairs Case Management Services, have partnered with departments across campus to create a series of enriching events throughout May. From RISE Workshops to engaging community connection spaces, and self-guided online resources, these programs offer avenues for personal growth and resilience-building for undergraduate, graduate and professional students.

The month will kick off with Move for Mental Health featuring invigorating movement-based classes designed to illuminate the profound connection between physical activity and mental well-being. Students may join us in exploring how movement can serve as a catalyst for stress management, mood regulation, and holistic well-being.

In this spirit, there will also be a special Tritons RISE Surf & Flow Event on Sunday, May 17, at Scripps Beach, where students can spend a fun day at the beach with Tritons Flourish. Students will enjoy seaside yoga flow, free surfing lessons, beach games, crafts and more.

To register for this free program, and to view a full calendar of events, please visit the Mental Health Awareness Month website.
