Dear UC San Diego Community,
The Ebola outbreak affecting the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Uganda, and South Sudan has been declared a public health emergency of international concern by The World Health Organization (WHO). U.S. public health authorities have also implemented enhanced travel restrictions and screening measures for travelers from affected countries due to ongoing transmission and heightened regional risk.
Effective immediately, all non-essential travel to the Democratic Republic of Congo, Uganda, and South Sudan is suspended for UC San Diego faculty, staff and students until further notice. Please contact Risk Management with specific questions.
The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) has assessed the risk in the U.S. as low. UC San Diego recommends taking additional proactive measures to augment safety and maintain operational continuity.
