The portal to submit course material adoptions for Fall Quarter 2026 as part of Triton One is open. Triton One is UC San Diego’s new equitable access textbook program that will provide access to all required textbooks for students at a flat rate of $199 per quarter, regardless of how many courses they are taking or how many books are required. Materials in this program will be provided in a digital-first format on Canvas and will be available to students no later than the first day of classes.
Faculty should have already received an email from vitalsource.ucsd.edu with a link to log in. The adoptions portal allows faculty to search for materials by ISBN or title or indicate that their course uses OER/Library materials. This process is similar to how faculty currently select and adopt course materials. A video walk-through is available to guide faculty through the adoptions process.
Please submit your adoptions by Friday, May 29. The early deadline provides the UC San Diego Bookstore sufficient time to negotiate bulk pricing with publishers, thereby giving the opportunity to offer students the $199 flat rate per quarter. Furthermore, under the Higher Education Opportunity Act (HEOA), institutions are required to display estimated costs during registration. Adoptions received by this date will also be reviewed by the UC San Diego Library for potential digital resource support.
As a reminder, faculty may continue to adopt any materials they believe are best for their instructional needs, including traditional textbooks, custom course readers, library reserves or Open Educational Resources (OER). Regardless of the format, Triton One manages the delivery and ensures students pay a predictable price.
