Canvas Disruption - Update

We continue to monitor the security incident with Instructure/Canvas. Instructure believes the Canvas learning management system is now secure and operational. In an abundance of caution, the University of California has requested third-party certification that the system is safe for users and that data within the system has not been altered or destroyed. Instructure has also posted a security incident update and FAQ online.

Please continue to avoid accessing Canvas through the web or mobile app until further notice. We are working to fully restore Canvas, but even if service appears to be available, please wait for official university communication confirming security and stability before attempting to access the system again.

We understand that the impact to students and instructors is significant. Our goal is to restore service as soon as possible while ensuring that the system is safe and secure.

We will continue to provide updates as information becomes available. You can also find updates online on the UC San Diego Systems Status webpage as well as the Key Issues Canvas webpage. UC is also sharing updates on UCnet.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Sincerely,

Elizabeth H. Simmons
