Triton Student System (TSS) Launch Updates and Support

The Triton Student System (TSS) is now live for main campus staff, faculty and continuing main campus students, representing a significant milestone in UC San Diego's modernization of its student systems. The Division of Extended Studies and incoming undergraduates will receive access in the coming weeks. Reaching this point represents years of planning, development, testing and collaboration across the campus.

Following the launch, we are focused on stabilizing performance, resolving issues and incorporating feedback from the campus community. We are committed to improving the TSS experience and appreciate the patience, partnership and feedback from students, faculty and staff as we continue to resolve issues and improve the system. This notice provides an update on issues that have been addressed, known limitations and where to find help through one of the TSS Support Channels.

Acknowledging the Launch Experience

We have heard concerns about the initial launch of TSS. Launching a system of this scale and complexity means that issues requiring attention were an expected part of the process. We understand that these issues have real impacts on everyone who interacts with TSS, whether they are accessing academic records, completing time-sensitive tasks, supporting campus processes, or simply trying to get their work done.

The project team is closely monitoring reported issues and resolving them as quickly as possible, with urgent issues affecting access, booking, payments and core student services prioritized. The initial release of TSS is focused on delivering the core capabilities required for fall quarter 2026. Continued development and improvement will occur as the system evolves and stabilizes.

Issues Addressed To Date

Several issues reported during the first days of student access have now been addressed.

  • Incorrect date of birth display: Due to a time zone application, a student’s date of birth displayed incorrectly in Student View at times. This has now been corrected.
  • Address validation hold: This was due to a conflict involving current and foreign mailing addresses. To address this, we ensured the Address Validation Hold no longer prevents affected students from booking for fall and foreign mailing addresses are now editable, allowing students to correct the address conflict.
  • 503 errors and access problems: Some students were temporarily unable to access TSS because demand exceeded the available infrastructure capacity. We have increased infrastructure capacity and teams continue to monitor access and optimize system performance.

Other Known Issues and Current Limitations

We recognize that additional issues and limitations remain, including with the course planner, booking windows, academic history and the Triton Enrollment Authorization (TEA). Please view the Known Issues & Current Limitations information on several of the most frequently reported concerns, along with the steps being taken to address them.

Staying Informed, Getting Support & Providing Feedback

Use the UC San Diego ITS Systems Status page to check for current incidents and service updates related to TSS.

General TSS launch updates, project information and support resources are available on the TSS Project website.

For an error or issue affecting access, booking, payments or student information, choose one of the official TSS support channels. Please do not submit the same issue through multiple channels, as duplicate submissions can delay review and resolution.

We also welcome your feedback on the TSS transition. Please use the Share Your TSS Experience Google form to share your input, comments and suggestions.

Why UC San Diego is Moving to TSS

UC San Diego's previous student information system could no longer support the campus' long-term needs. TSS replaces that infrastructure with a modern platform that better connects university processes and brings the main campus and the Division of Extended Studies onto a single, unified system.

TSS is not a direct replacement for any single tool. The retirement of many familiar systems, including WebReg and EASy are real losses, and we recognize that. While those tools were refined over many years, TSS is in its earliest days, and it will take time, continued development and ongoing investment to reach that same level of familiarity and functionality.

Continuing the Transition Together

The project team will continue to stabilize the system, resolve issues and communicate openly about improvements and known limitations.

We expect additional issues to emerge as more processes move into TSS and more members of the UC San Diego community use the new system. Reports submitted through official support channels, along with broader feedback from students, faculty and staff, are helping the campus identify concerns and prioritize improvements and resolution.

We appreciate the patience, partnership, resilience and feedback of everyone working through this transition. Your experiences are helping to inform ongoing improvements to support a stronger, more resilient system for UC San Diego into the future.
