ALL STUDENTS, ACADEMICS AND STAFF AT UC SAN DIEGO (including UC San Diego Health)
Grand Opening of the UC San Diego Blue Line, Nov. 21
The grand opening of the UC San Diego Blue Line Trolley extension is Sunday, Nov. 21 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Please join us on Warren Field for a free event with food, music, giveaways and free trolley rides to help celebrate and mark this historic moment.
Trolley access is connecting UC San Diego to the greater San Diego region like never before. When the two campus trolley stations open on Nov. 21, students and employees who live throughout the region will have direct access to the heart of our campus. Likewise, campus residents will have increased access to employment centers, nearby shopping in UTC and La Jolla Village Square, and many of San Diego’s cultural and recreational destinations.Learn more about free and discounted transit passes for students and employees.
The Blue Line also increases patient and family access to UC San Diego Health’s world-class patient care and wealth of top-ranked specialty healthcare. It opens direct travel to the border, strengthening our ties with partner institutions in Mexico and supports our student-run free health clinic in Tijuana.
Early next year, UC San Diego will also open a new downtown site on the Blue Line, at Park and Market streets. Our university’s new physical space to connect with nearby communities, UC San Diego @ Park & Market will offer a mix of public, meeting, arts and educational spaces for civic engagement, learning, collaboration, and cultural experiences unique to our region and communities. This unique space will provide the public with a new access point for the knowledge, connections and resources of UC San Diego.
The UC San Diego Blue Line will provide to campus and to our greater community a new, convenient, safe and affordable alternative to driving to and from campus. Please join us to celebrate our greatly improved connectivity.
