It is May (and May is almost over)! I know I’m not the only one who really feels our fiscal year cycle, meaning we are 10 months in, and I’m exhausted! It’s budget season, end of the academic year season, performance appraisal season, seeing summer as a beacon of hope season, and all the things. Whew! Thankfully, it is Mental Health Awareness Month, so we have a heightened focus on tools to support you during this time. Mental Health IS health, and should always be a focus.
First, take stock of how you are feeling. If you are feeling the exhaustion of almost being done with another academic and/or fiscal year, remember – dwelling on how much there is to do won’t help. Instead, make a reasonable plan, and tackle what you can when you can. Do not let the interruptions of the world dissuade you from your progress. You cannot control what you cannot control, but you can control how you react. Plan for something to disrupt, interrupt, detract, and how you will respond, so you will be ready. If you are not feeling this exhaustion, share your energy with others, check on a colleague, and spread joy where you can!
Now on to the updates! First up, news to navigate your daily work life, and then information on exciting ways to engage.

2019 Engagement Survey Email Error An email about the 2019 engagement survey was erroneously sent to some staff members across the system from our engagement survey vendor, Willis Towers Watson. This was the result of them performing a software update that led to invitations being sent for projects that were already closed, including UC’s 2019 Staff Engagement Survey. Employees who received this email are advised to delete it, and do not need to take further action. Willis Towers Watson has resolved the issue and is investigating the root cause and impact of the error. WTW apologized for the concern and inconvenience this situation has caused.
