The San Diego Divisional Academic Senate is hosting a virtual town hall on Thursday, May 22 from 5 to 6:30 p.m. to provide an update on the Secure Connect Program. In October 2024, UC San Diego’s Offices of the Chief Information Security Officer for UC San Diego and UC San Diego Health sent a notice introducing the Secure Connect Program. Secure Connect is UC San Diego’s response to a systemwide call from UC President Michael Drake and the UC Regents to meet a list of minimum outcomes to improve cybersecurity. These outcomes are due to be in place by the end of this month.
At the town hall, UC San Diego’s Acting Chief Information Security Officer Kevin Chou and the Academic Senate’s Committee on Academic Information Technology Chair Barry Grant will cover implementation of Secure Connect, information about the program, and the involvement of Senate faculty in shaping UC San Diego’s approach. Following their presentation, there will be an opportunity for Q&A.
Register here for the Town Hall. If you have a question for the Q&A to share in advance of the meeting, please send it to academicsenateoffice@ucsd.edu by 9 a.m. on Thursday, May 22.
