We would like to share an update from our message earlier today on the Canvas disruption. Our teams are standing by ready to restore service once we have approval from the University of California, which is still waiting to receive assurances that the system is secure. We expect that this will likely happen sometime over the weekend or by early next week. Please continue to avoid accessing Canvas through the web or mobile app until further notice. Normally, the deadline for undergraduate students to drop a course with a W grade, withdraw from the quarter with W grades, or to change units would be today, May 8 at 11:59 p.m. The same deadline applies for both undergraduate and graduate students to change their grading option. Given the timing of the potential restoration of Canvas, the Academic Senate has approved an extension until Wednesday, May 13, at 11:59 p.m. for the following:

The extension also applies to the deadline for undergraduates to change units.

We know that this disruption has presented many challenges, and we hope this deadline extension will give students time to make informed and thoughtful decisions. For undergraduate students with questions, please submit questions through the Virtual Advising Center (vac.ucsd.edu). For graduate students with questions, please contact your department’s Graduate Coordinator. For faculty and staff with questions about the Senate’s approved extension, please contact Senate Associate Director Ashley Hill (awelch@ucsd.edu).
