INTRODUCTION TO PPM 230 - ACADEMIC PERSONNEL

TABLE OF CONTENTS

The Academic Personnel Manual (APM) includes policies and procedures pertaining to the employment relationship between an academic appointee and the University of California. The APM is issued by the Office of the President and applies to all campuses and laboratories.

The UC San Diego Policy and Procedure Manual (PPM) Section 230 provides additional academic personnel policies that are specific to UC San Diego (including all units under its jurisdiction). PPM 230 supplements the policies and procedures set forth in the APM, and must always be applied in conjunction with that manual.

The Office of the Executive Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs is currently updating and revising the policies and procedures contained in PPM 230 to adopt the format and structure of the APM. PPM policies and procedures listed below were updated effective July 1, 2017, and are numbered to correspond to the associated APM section. For example, PPM 230-220, Professor Series, relates to matters subject to APM 220, Professor Series. For reference, these sections include citations to associated subsections of the APM; in all cases, the APM is operative where referenced.
